These studies are indicative of the kind of work done at the Cape School of Art under the tutelage of Henry Hensche. The one in the middle is a "block study" and was the kind of study all Hensche students started with. The one on the
left I did in Henry's back yard. For this study he specifically instructed me to make my major variations of color as
different as my initial statements of light and shade.
