Supply List

Materials list (the supplies below are all available at Art Things in West Annapolis, or at American Art on Renard Ct. If you have questions feel free to email me at john@johnebersberger.com or call me at 410 533-1803)

1. Paints (student grade such as "Winton" is acceptable):
-titanium white (large tube)
-cadmium yellow light
-cadmium yellow
-cadmium orange
-scarlet lake, or cadmium scarlet, or napthol red
-cadmium red deep
-permanent rose
-ultramarine blue
-cerulean blue
-permanent green light
-viridian
-yellow ochre
-burnt sienna
-mars red or indian red

2. Stretched canvas - Portrait workshop: either a 16x20 or 20x 24, and one 12x16 gessoed board. Figure workshop: any size, no smaller than 12x16. 16x20,14x18, or 24x20 would work fine.

4. Grumbacher extra soft charcoal

5. Brushes - white bristle brushes: flats, sizes 2-10 (a variety within these sizes) and rounds 1-4 (variety within this range). Smaller round sable or "cats tongue" sable for details (I like the Escoda filbert "cats tongue" series 2813, available online at www.DickBlick.com)

6. Ball cap, or visor with a brim to block the light

7. Solvent - Gamsol, made by Gamblin paint co. is the only solvent permitted in the classroom. No turps or mineral spirits other than Gamsol. Jar for solvent, tuna can or palette cup for smaller dipping.

8. Palette - A large wooden palette (surface must be sealed with polyurethane). OR a sheet of plexi-glass from the hardware store cut to about 18x24. Lee Boynton also makes excellent palettes - 410 263-6336

9. Palette knife - Leow Cornell, J-2, J-10
